It would be nice if more bottles fit
It only fits a very specific size wine bottle. Be larger (like the first bottle of Riesling I tasted) or squat (like a bottle of champagne) and the cap doesn't unscrew. It's still reasonably functional without the bolted-on top, but clearly not in the way it was designed. Maybe there's a reason all those promotional photos show the lid floating over the bottle in the fridge.
