leaves LOTS of fabric residue when washed and leaves a decent but much thinner fabric

I liked that it was 100% cotton. the dryer lint catcher overflowed from the washing machine. With so much cotton, the rest of the fabric was much thinner. Also, after washing it turned gray rather than white, but that doesn't bother me. I know it needs white paint to make it white and I prefer nature. I doubt it would work well as a painting cloth unless the paint blob was very wet and dried quickly.
