My sliders damage everything in sight. They pulled this baby out overnight, he was stepping over the water and the whole bedroom smelled like burnt plastic. Half of this thing was without water. It will work for fish too. That's why I gave 5 stars! It works on fish and will definitely warm up the tank quickly. Only if you have turtles that destroy everything, don't take these. Get a smart one that turns off automatically. I did and it works great
