Review on Paha Que Wilderness Hammock Rainfly: The Ultimate Lean-To Shelter for Camping & Backpacking by Dean Ledet

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worth the money if a bit heavy

I thought long and hard about whether it should be 4* or 5* and I'll tell you why - the weight. The raincoat is heavy (that is, from the point of view of a light tourist). However, it is of excellent quality and feels like it will hold up well in inclement weather. I replaced the guy wires with bright yellow 550 paracord to make them more visible in the dark and bought a set of aluminum poles to replace the steel poles that came with Fly-4 aluminum poles, which actually seem lighter than any of the steel poles rods. The included storage bag is too big for a bow tie, but it holds my Yukon Outfitters Freedom v2 hammock and a set of lightspeed hammock straps along with the bow tie, with room left over (hopefully to hide the bug net). Total weight is currently (hammock, straps, pegs and grain) 3.1 lbs. I've attached a few photos of a bow tie with hammock and straps and a bow tie set up over my hammock during a hike I did a few weeks ago.

Pros
  • SUPER EASY TO USE - Easily attaches to the same trees or other supports as your hammock. Complete lightweight harness system included. Also includes adjustable nylon guy wires and 4 ground stakes - nothing else to buy!
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
