Review on ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Dorman 49449 Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushing: Reliable Replacement for Nissan Models (2-Pack) by Dale Emmel

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good parts, decent quality, but don't match the 1998 Legacy. And Dorman told me that!

I've seen several reviews commenting on their performance on various Subaru, I have a 1998 Legacy Outback and was hoping they would work as there was noticeable play in the connection. I took off the windshield wipers and hood, tried to pull out the motor and found that the bushing that connects the motor to the passenger joint was damaged. I ordered two packs and need four total if I swap out the kit. I've found that they don't work with this year's Subaru model and the online catalog says they do. Thought it might be worth a try as this set somehow worked. Here's the kicker: When I called Heuburger Subaru, I found that on the first call, the parts salesman told me that the bushings were not available without buying the hinge, which is the part that protrudes through the hood on which the wiper arm is screwed on. $56 per side, it takes two. It didn't sound like Subaru to me, they tend to be "friendlier" when it comes to breaking small parts down into their component parts. Searching the web I found the part type was wrong, Subaru sells a female connector for about $12 each, it takes two. It's a good deal, you get two connections (one from the motor to the first joint and another from the first joint to the second) which saves a lot of time. I wish Dorman's stuff would work, but see how long it takes to press in and out of the bushings compared to putting in new cranks isn't a problem. Again, this isn't Dorman's or Revane's fault, I'm just trying to understand what others have to say in the reviews. Incidentally, Dorman bushings press into the links when heated in hot water (careful!), but the ball that presses into the bushing at the pivot points and motor pops out too easily. can make the guy find the right details.
