Review on Slice Ceramic Scissor Friendly Phthalate by Amber Perez

Too small for big hands

I've had ZYLISS herb shears since 2009, they retail around $12. I use them a few times a week when cutting herbs from the garden and they do well. I also have a pair of Helen Chen Asian Kitchen Scissors from last year, they retail for about $18. Made in Germany, they are so practical and easy to use that they are difficult to cut in the kitchen. I have a Slice utility knife that I really like. This is my first pair of ceramic scissors, they cost around $34 at the time of writing. I have several Kyocera ceramic knives in my kitchen that I use on a daily basis and they cost about the same or less than the Slice Scissor. Kyocera also makes a very good pair of ceramic scissors which has been on my wish list for a while, the blade is a bit longer and there is enough room in the handles for a large hand, they cost about the same and sometimes sell for around $27. . The Slice scissors are small, I carry the small size with gloves so I think someone with big hands would be uncomfortable with them. I store a number of foods with my Food Saver so I tried them on plastic, they cut through two layers. For someone like me who has a lot of kitchen utensils I would probably be of limited use as ceramic knives are great for eating and most kitchen scissors will cut through plastic and paper. I think it would be difficult to justify the price given the other kitchen items I own.
