This grinder stand is the perfect tool for anyone who has an extra angle grinder. This works if you only have one grinder and want to remove and install it each time, but there are many settings and I would recommend using a dedicated grinder for that cutter stand. The instructions are fine but it took me way longer than I expected to assemble it because they don't give any details on how to assemble it. There's an exploded view of all the parts so you can figure it out, but there's a little trial and error to figure out how it all fits together. Not much is explained either, so I wasn't sure if I needed to use the plastic screen protector or just the one that was already on my grinder. I ended up using both which helped keep sparks away from me which is especially helpful when cutting metal. The stand is handy in that it uses a common thread that most angle grinders use for a handle that can be mounted on the left or right side. . It's best to loosen and tighten everything when all the screws are roughly where they should be. It took me a while to adjust everything and if you have a plane or 90 degree triangle it will help to make sure everything is even. There are 4 screws holding the top to the base which I had to loosen and tighten a few times before they were right, the trick was getting them loose enough to move and when I found the correct position after my instrument was installed, I locked there. If you remove and reinstall the grinder, you will likely need to realign everything. If you want a straight cut, this is important. There are 2 plastic capped screws that press against the grinder to allow you to level it. Since you need to make sure the X, Y, and Z axes are as close to each other at exactly 90 degrees as possible, these screws will take some time to adjust, as will the ones I mentioned for the base. Sounds complicated, but it isn't at all. I made a few test cuts to make sure it cuts straight in all directions and after setting everything up I blocked everything out, checked again and it's been great ever since. Once you've set everything up, the fun begins. I have several angle grinder blades, so I tried a cut-off wheel, a diamond blade for porcelain and ceramics, and a chainsaw for wood. A mini saw blade will also fit as shown in the product photos. After greasing the bars, the ride is smooth and the biggest issue is how deep the small 4.5" blades can cut. Not very deep, but anything 2 inches or less will do, and if you just need to make cuts in wood or metal the template is easy to adjust so the blade only goes down to a certain degree and They are perfectly identical and can cut even cuts when cutting multiple pieces at once. It acts almost like a cross-cut saw, router, and ski saw hybrid and works well provided your grinder and blade are of decent quality. The slide bars on the X-axis can be locked so it just slides down like a cut-off saw. Again, you're limited to small blades, but for small parts this works well. I didn't even mention the built in clamp/vise that will hold your part securely while you cut into it. Particularly useful for metal parts that take longer to cut. The clamp can be rotated to make angled cuts and there are markings but I figured it would be best to use a protractor to check the angle before cutting. It clamps well and I'm happy with the way the clamp works, one of the nicest parts of this thing. There is a "Quick Clamp" mode where you can press the yellow button and quickly move the filament in or out without turning the handle. Nice feature, I use it all the time. Since most of the parts on this device are metal, most things on this device feel solid. The plastic sign is really poor quality, almost like an afterthought. You don't really need it, and you can use the shredder without the shield or use the built-in metal if you prefer. I've been trying for so long to adjust it so that it can go up and down easily, but the way it spins falls off every time. That cheap screen and how long it takes to set everything up the first time are my biggest issues with this product. Pretty much everything else is great, and for someone like me who has had an extra angle grinder and no chop saw, it's at least a start before I can get something with a big blade. I would almost say that it is necessary to leave the grinder installed and not try to remove it to grind manually. To do this, it is easier to buy another cheap meat grinder. Any 4" or 4.5" brand with detachable grips should work just fine. I haven't tried a battery-powered grinder yet, but it could also work for mobile work. All in all, this is a fun little shop toy with some real uses, especially when cutting stuff under 2 inches thick. The stand can be bolted to the desk to keep it in place, but I haven't had too much trouble with it during use. I really like the light green color and it's reasonably safe as long as you're careful and keep your hand away from the spinning blade when it's on. I've had no problem cutting steel rod, notching wood, and evenly notching tile. I would rate it as above average but not perfect. Some people might get frustrated with the setup process and you need to take your time, but if you enjoy messing around with new gadgets like I do, you will probably love this unique tool.
