This is an excellent water leak and freeze detector. Set up was very easy and without incident. To set it up, make sure Bluetooth is turned on, otherwise the installation will fail. Next, I would suggest installing the mobile app first before installing the batteries. The pairing process takes about 5 seconds. So if you miss the window, you'll have to remove the batteries and repeat the pairing process again. You may also need to reset the device by using a paper clip and inserting one end into the reset hole to reset the device. My router is a device: Netgear R7500 Nighthawk X4 AC2350 Dual Band WiFi Router and I had no problems connecting to this router at all. My guess is that Lyric only connects to a 2.4GHz signal because that signal has a longer range than a 5GHz signal and it can also go through walls much easier. Technically, there's no reason Honeywell couldn't add an additional 5GHz radio. I think they were just cautious and wanted to maximize the range of this device as it could be placed in a very remote and awkward location. However, the device paired, connected to my router, and connected to the Honeywell servers without incident. Also, Honeywell included 2 batteries in the box so you don't have to go out and buy a starter battery pack for it. The app monitors battery levels so you know when to change them when the time comes. In addition, the app has the option to invite other people who have the app installed to receive alerts and notifications for any Lyric you have installed at home. There's also a dedicated prompt for Homekit users, although I haven't tested that feature. . This is very similar to Homekit's naming scheme. However, unlike Homekit, I didn't see an option to create multiple houses in the app. So if you have a rental apartment, dacha, etc. I'm not sure Honeywell expects the app to work in that situation. My guess is that Lyric doesn't support Homekit because Homekit requires the device to be always available. Since Lyric sleeps a lot to save battery life, this violates this specific Homekit requirement as the device isn't always available when it's in sleep mode. It would be great if Lyric had the ability to use the AC adapter as an additional power source for users who want/need and want to be always on the device. I then tested the water leak feature by connecting a cord sensor to the Lyric and placing one end of the cord in a sink filled with water. Between 20 seconds and 1 minute I received an email and a push notification that a water leak was detected. An alarm also went off at the same time. When the alarm goes off, an interface will appear that allows you to silence the alarm. However, the alarm does not turn off immediately. For some reason the alarm may take up to 2 minutes to turn off. I then took a towel and dried the cable receiving parts sufficiently until I thought it was dry. To my surprise, I received another warning and an email saying the water leak was fixed!. It was unexpected and very pleasant. The application allows the user to set the interval at which temperature and humidity information is sent to your mobile device. Maximum up to 3 times a day. Unfortunately, there's no way to get an on-demand reading anytime, or to schedule an unscheduled reading. Once the device is put into sleep mode, nothing can wake it up except for a water leak. So you may have to wait a long time (48 hours) to know that the temperature has dropped and get a freeze notification. It would be great to have a Wake On Lan feature to send a control packet to the device to wake it up and get some kind of read access if needed. No IFTTT or Revain Echo integration that I can discern. However, I think the device and app are working great so far. An IFTT integration would really complement the app. Update 10/20/2016 I was away from home for about 4 weeks. I completely forgot I installed this device under the sink. Once when I was away, I received a high humidity and low temperature alarm from this unit. I contacted a neighbor to check the device under the sink. When he entered my house, he found that the temperature in the house was very low. It turned out that my oven stopped working and that's why the temperature and humidity alarm went off. He called the oven repair company and they solved the problem with the oven. So this device really worked for me. Update 09/27/2017 This device still works great. The battery is currently at 80% at the time of writing this review. In addition, it also alerted me to a high humidity issue that would have become a major problem had this unit not been installed. You can ask Alexa what the temperature is where the leak detector is (e.g. in the kitchen sink). However, asking him about moisture is not supported.
