My long necklaces were too long for my jewelry stand - they just got tangled. It is very easy to install (first remove the red label, stick it on the device, then remove the black label, stick it on the wall and hold for a minute - even a 10 year old can do it). . My walls are freshly painted stucco in an old house, so you know they don't have as smooth a finish as drywall.
