Assembly wasn't difficult. The product is well made. We just took four bikes on a trip that included over 600 miles (mostly highway) with this rack. Our four bikes weigh 95 pounds total. It is rated for 140. Pros: - Easy to assemble - Materials used - Fit and finish - Safety - Swivel function to use tailgate is convenient and works as intended - Straps are easy to use and an extra spare strap is included. Cons: - The arms seemed a bit short. This meant the bikes were pressed tightly together, with the mounts for the last bike placed very close to the ends of the tubes. If the finish of your bikes is important to you, you should probably transport them differently or use tape or some other protective material to resist abrasion. - Quality Control - The loop for the wire holding the pivot came loose, possibly after the second or third use. See photo. This was with normal use without any twitching. This indicates a hectic pace in the production process. It's so easy, just crimp it right. I'm sure I can fix it in about 10 seconds with pliers, but it was a minor annoyance after such a short use. Not a catastrophic problem as it does not render the product useless as a bike rack. They supply a nut and bolt to attach the bike rack to the hitch mount. There wasn't enough play to tighten the bolt head or nut with my particular hitch. I'm not suggesting that most people fit a bike carrier semi-permanently to their hitch, so a hitch pin is more appropriate (and universal) and should be included. I spent $12 on a locking pin. Some find it more difficult to remove the rack and install and remove without tools. With this type of rack loaded with four bikes, I was constantly aware as we rode speed bumps and rough roads. It was hard to tell if the strut was flexing or if it was just moving with the car. I checked the welds when we got home and everything looked fine. All in all this is a good product.
