This is my second basket as the first one broke within the first 2 years of use. The latter broke in the same way on the screws holding the handle to the basket. We have never used a dishwasher, only washed by hand. However, this basket broke in the first year. Plastic is weak and becomes brittle with increasing heat. In addition, the screws loosen over time and have to be tightened. If this goes unnoticed, the pen and basket will fight each other and eventually give up. The weakest point is the plastic mounting bracket from the handle to the basket. I cannot recommend this basket and have purchased a cooktop with a built in fryer which takes the basket out of the equation.
