These cables work perfectly. They were installed on my son's 20" bike and the front cable had to be cut. This isn't easy to do though, so I pulled out the cable and used a utility knife to cut the sheath, which has a metal liner inside. While the edge was quite rough at first, I was able to smooth it out just enough to allow the brake cable to slide in and out smoothly. I think they are meant for kids bikes as they are a bit short (exact length is in the product description). . and that's what they work for.
