Doesn't work well

Was hoping to use this on my Canon DSLR (Frame Censor) with a lens on my old Barnack Leica screw mount camera, but can only focus very close to the camera as if it were macro Lens. (without the benefit of a macro lens). I was looking forward to using this lens digitally and was very disappointed.
