I got my hamster from the Humane Society and he's a little nervous. Sometimes when I held him, he would startle and jump out of my hands. I bought this as a security, if it pops out of my hands it can't collide with anything/anywhere dangerous. It's also large enough to be ideal for external stimulation/play. I put some toys in him and he can play outside his cage for a good 15 minutes! Also, it folds into a small bag and is not as big or heavy as other cages I have.
