Every time I use this machine, something about it impresses me. It's simple, durable and surprisingly accurate. If you're old enough to remember when your entry-level tools, jigs or whatever lasted at least a few years, you'll really appreciate this machine. So super high marks for quality and utility. Besides, we're a bit dated, aren't we? What really sets this purchase apart for me are the many little things: There is a detachable reel seat that inserts into a slot on the top of the machine. You can wind the bobbin without removing the line from the machine, then simply remove it and toss it in the accessory tray so it doesn't get in your way. I have some blank scrolls so I don't have to dig them up. If I leave them on my desk I might miss them as they are transparent. The width of the free sleeve is equal to the width of the throat plate; Pulling out the accessory tray removes the platform in front and behind. You can actually wear a life size cuff on your sleeve! That makes a huge difference to me as most cars only drop off at the front and you can't put anything smaller than a Godzilla leg on it. And that's what I've noticed so far! To be honest I feel like I should send Janoma a thank you note or something. Think about it, when was the last time you bought something that didn't have 75 "features" that you would never use and didn't want at all, but actually had the 5 or 6 features you bought it for , certainly executed . and perfect - every time? When was the last time you bought something entry-level that didn't feel cheap and flimsy? Or 3 days break? To be honest I couldn't remember. I don't know how or why, but this company seems to have missed the "everything is now disposable" idea. Someone has clearly taken care of the design and performance of this machine and I am very happy with the result.
