Smells so bad like toothbrushes and accessories

Does the job (fits the base of the toothbrush as advertised) but I literally have to breathe through my mouth when I brush my teeth because it stinks. It smells like my neighbor's potted plants mixed with rotting veggies, and I'm totally serious. Next time I try to use it when I get pregnant, the smell makes me nauseous every time I brush my teeth. I use a week or two. I'm pretty sure it's plastic and I don't know how to remove it.
