Review on πŸš— Dorman 741-664 Front Driver Side Power Window Motor Regulator Assembly for Ford/Mercury Models by Adam Cornelison

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good product, works well. However, the replacement isn't as easy as it was with my Chevy pickup. (Update - not the latest)

The controller/motor assembly is good and working properly. I hope this lasts a while as it was a bit of a hassle to install with the Ford tech and all the rivets ('06 Mercury Grand Marquis). My Dorman regulator had enough rivets for the regulator and window, but not enough for the other rivets I had to drill out to complete the job. Anyway, I didn't have a rivet gun big enough to use 1/4" rivets, so I bought nylock nuts and bolts to replace any rivets I had drilled out. It took about 8-10 of them, I used 1/4. Size 4-20. I used 1/2" screws all over, but the two holding the regulator to the window used 3/4" screws. the screws should make it a bit easier if I have to do it again). Hope this helps someone **update** - both the ESC and motor broke within 17 months. That's nonsense for a product like this. I wish I had at least kept the original Ford motor from the old ESC, it was a bit more powerful than the Dorman from day one and might still work, but I didn't keep it as the Dorman part came with a new motor I think it's time to find an alternative because Dorman isn't that. This job is too hard to use parts that don't last a year and a half.
