If you have a Biocube you may have noticed that there are 3 compartments on the back which effectively serve as a catch basin. The first is for the protein skimmer, the second for all your filters, and the third (presumably) serves both the heater and the outlet hose. Well, compartment 2 is HUGE, so this ridiculously expensive but well-designed piece of plastic divides 2 compartments. You still have enough space for the filter media and now you have enough space for your heater. If you want to add ultraviolet light (a controversial addition), you've got plenty of room. I'm complaining because it was so expensive, but damn it just fits in, you can just as easily pull it out, replace the media you want to replace and put it back in. So it might be plastic, but it's mature plastic. I'm still waiting for my tank to work but I can say it will work great.
