Coralife LED BioCube 32 inTank Media Basket - Optimize Your Search Review

I would recommend trimming the little plastic tabs in the tank pan to ensure a tighter fit, otherwise I'll have to tilt the basket a bit to fit it capture almost 100% of the water. The problem isn't in the basket, it's in the tank. I mean the tab where the stock filter sat. There's another one below. I love being able to customize the media to suit the needs of my aquariums. Camera 3 doesn't get warm at all so I removed mine.

I have a 32 gallon. Biocubes I have used Coralife, Purigen and Chemipure Elite filter media. I was having flow issues in Chambers 2-3 and my protein skimmer wasn't working well. I bought this item, started flossing, Purigen and Chemipure Elite and moved my protein skimmer to a second chamber and the flow is much better, the skimmer works better and the tank is crystal clear. By getting rid of the standard bio cube racks, I have more options to help my tank perform better.

I have a BioCube 32 and this media basket from InTank is fantastic. The fit is perfect and their videos on their website are insightful. So glad I found her. I have ordered a few items from them and highly recommend their fish lifeguard which fits over the divider between the tank and media chambers. It obscures the vents, which is a bad design choice. I wouldn't run a biocube without it. This makes changing mechanical and chemical filters quick, easy and clean. I also have some bio-medium and I can just dip it all in the sewage for a water change to wash off the detritus with ease. This greatly increases the amount of water that actually comes into contact with your filter media, making mechanical filtration a small area that you can quickly swap out with a cheap, cut-to-size filter mat every few days. This is a really great and simple addition to the Biocube that seems to get the job done. I installed it without the protein skimmer so I didn't have to make any modifications to my tank other than just pulling out the old filter element. It does a great job of forcing water through whatever media you put in it. Then I apply filter floss, then pure, then chemically pure blue. I ordered 2 pieces from inTank including this media basket and both came with some damage. Luckily this item isn't mechanical so a small crack in one of the shelves isn't the end of the world. The only disappointing thing about the design is that the airflow from the air intake directed onto the filter media in the media basket is not as efficient as I had hoped. When I adjust this item to the best of my ability, a small amount of water can still bypass the media basket and seems to reduce flow

If you have a Biocube you may have noticed that there are 3 compartments on the back which effectively serve as a catch basin. The first is for the protein skimmer, the second for all your filters, and the third (presumably) serves both the heater and the outlet hose. Well, compartment 2 is HUGE, so this ridiculously expensive but well-designed piece of plastic divides 2 compartments. I installed my 32 gallon BioCube on May 7th 2020 and am planning to turn it into a reef tank. I installed it using the media rack that came with the tank, but I knew right away that changing the chemical filters and storing the MarinePure cubes was going to be a real hassle.
