This is not a plug and play device. Intermediate electrical knowledge required. If you have those skills and more time than money, this is the device for you. It took me an hour to connect the power and install the unit. Allow an additional hour if you wish to connect to the shift lock solenoid. You have to figure out how to connect the wires to your car yourself. I was able to determine the wattage with an ice pick test lamp. The guide suggests tampering with your oil pump to disable your car. I recommend connecting a normally closed relay to the shift lock solenoid. So if the tracker sends a shutdown command, the shift lock solenoid will not be energized and the vehicle will not start. The safest way to disable a car is when it's parked. You can do it your way and disable the car when it stops at a red light if you want. You won't be so lucky to get your car back if another driver crashes into your remotely disabled car from behind. The instruction manual is not very detailed and tiny. The pictures are useless. You have to read and think. Learn SMS, GPRS and GMS. I recommend US Mobile as a cheap provider. On two of my cars, all the wires I needed were behind the radio. I mounted the device above the radio and attached it to the center air vent. So it gets less hot in the summer since it's not as close to the top of the dash, and a little warmer in the winter to prevent condensation from forming and corroding. one last thought, you can also override the brake light switch. This would prevent the car from engaging a gear. You risk a careless driver crashing into your car, but the police will notice and arrest the thief. Your call.
