I have a 2010 mk 6 2.5L Golf. The base and gaiters matched perfectly, but the grip was not an OEM replacement. Inside the standard handle is a notch that matches the notch on the metal rod. The goal is to prevent the handle from rotating. I just reused the factory button, that was my goal from the start so no damage is done to me. Tip: I used a dremel to remove the factory clip instead of cutting it with wire cutters or trying to pry it out with a screwdriver. The included clip works great.
