Review on OXO Good Grips 14-Piece Cookie Press Kit by Laura Patzner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The technology is really improving.

Every Christmas for over 40 years I have heard my wife scream and howl as she makes spritz cookies on an old metal screw press her mother gave her. One day she got a different press but it broke immediately and she went back to the old one. After all, the old one is just now covered in dust when the threads wore out in the middle of a batch. I found this oxo press online and read the reviews. I took a quick trip to Bed Bath and Beyond and bought an oxo press. What an improvement! We quickly ate the remaining shortbread cookies. Read all other reviews for tips. We have found that the cookie sheets need to be degreased and placed in the freezer so that they are ice cold when the cookie is pressed. This will help them stick to the pan and detach from the press. Use room temperature dough, it should be soft, like soft play dough. You can change the size of the cookies within reasonable limits depending on the number of clicks you make with the plunger - fewer clicks for smaller cookies. About two grip drops is the maximum, 1-1/2 is correct. Body and bottom ring + matrices can be cleaned in the dishwasher according to the instructions. The top with the plunger should be hand washed. We use a nylon bottle brush in warm soapy water when hand washing the top. Thank you OH!
