Revain guides not always correct

You, like many others, own an older car that comes from the factory with two nuts. IOW a stamped "mantle" is placed over a traditional nut. Well, the corrosion starts between the embossing and the nut. The "coating" swells up, making it difficult, if not impossible, to use a wrench or socket to remove or install nuts. Therefore, people remove and replace the factory nuts with full nuts. It is currently unknown how the coating will resist surface corrosion, but it cannot "swell". But that's not the point at all. Be careful what you order. There are many nut sizes and comparing them can be confusing. The size and depth of the thread are of great importance. Because these are closed nuts, if you make the nut too short, the wheel stud will fall all the way down and the wheel will come loose, or the end of the nut will fly out, or the stud itself will break off. And the outer size of the nut, if not the original size, will make it impossible to use the factory wheel wrench. I had to return the first set as the thread size was correct but the nut size was not. Even so, the installation guide didn't recognize it. IOW, don't rely on Revain's "Fit" guide to always be the right one. Also these nuts seem to be of good quality, a bane these days if you don't use the right tool to install them you can deform part of the cover. If possible, use a side-drive hex socket. This greatly reduces the stress on the nut tips. And the torque after installation and after a few days of driving.
