Avoid this item. good for small appliances

This is a beautiful machine - no greasy seams, easy to clean, smooth glass front to back. Unfortunately, it's completely useless for its intended purpose of cooking. It's not accurate and not professional. The temperature control is terrible. And the feature that, after three more miserable attempts on induction hobs, led me to the ability to choose the power level is also a total failure. Worse, from the user's perspective, it completely violates the principle of least surprise. The watt display does not show how many watts the device actually consumes measured on my watt-up meter. And power control is overridden by power limits set by various temperature settings. So I first tried using it to heat Lodge's 10-inch cast-iron skillet for a grilled cheese sandwich. Failed. Set at 300°, the temperature rose rapidly. beyond the 500° limit of my non-contact thermometer. Okay, let's set it to 220° at 1500 watts to cook sausages. Mistake. Even set at 1500 watts, this dumb burner ignores the user's power choices and limits the heat. up to 600 watts meaning the chef's legs will grow together as he waits for cold sausages and beer to simmer, and when it's then set to 475° to finish cooking, resetting to 180° does that it is set to 213°. Somehow my Breville grill and InstantPot seem to have mastered temperature control technology. My DigIQ controller for my BGE also understands temperature control. Why NuWave can't do the same is a question only they can answer. Maybe the NuWave engineers in college couldn't handle the differential equation.
