Not suitable for HD radio at low altitudes.

I got what I expected. Mediocre reception. I should mention that I live 45 minutes from Atlanta. I also live in a steep valley which is bad for all indoor antennas. I have a high quality Yamaha AV Receiver with HD Radio support. Before purchasing this antenna I used a 75 ohm dipole wire taped to the wall. I used to have a few HD stations but with this antenna I couldn't get a signal strong enough for most HD broadcasts although the stereo was strong. Stations temporarily switched from stereo to HD due to a weak signal. The ugly wire on the wall was driving me crazy, so I tried this option. On average, antennas with a diameter of 36 inches are required for VHF waves. Any error will surely affect an HD signal, even if it sounds great, as in many cases HD signals carry multiple transmissions on the same frequency in switchable HD1-5 modes. How could this little telescopic antenna cope! A thin wire works much better than this HD antenna, but placing the wire correctly always takes some effort. This antenna is 8 inches shorter for optimal HD in poor locations. Despite having 12 sections, each section is only about 2 inches tall. Four more sections would make a difference, bringing the overall length closer to 36 inches. To be fair, knowing my poor reception due to my low altitude, this antenna actually performed above average. Consider your height and choose an extension of at least 36 inches. HD radio requires strong signals, especially in hard-to-reach areas, in which case this antenna will not suffice.
