I just set up this router and it's working pretty well so far. I also noticed that the device wanted to do a "firmware update" "immediately" - during the installation process. And as advertised, fairly quick FAST installation. If the router is currently 10-15 feet from your iPad or laptop, the throughput (according to Speedtest.net) is around 35-40 MB/s. Do you want to improve performance? I'll leave that question to the WiFi experts. The "setup screen" is fairly extensive and mostly self-explanatory. The included documentation leaves a lot to be desired. I went online and found a very detailed manual in .pdf format. Thanks to Asus for a very good user guide! So for now I'm happy with my purchase.
