I had enough of this and bought it anyway. I've read that glue doesn't work and comes off on bumpy roads and phones fall off and whatnot. I've had it for over a year and my phone hasn't been dropped once or the base hasn't come off. I live next to a very bumpy gravel road and in the south where it is very hot. Before gluing the base to the dash, I rinsed the area where I was placing it with rubbing alcohol to remove any dirt or oil. After drying, I glued the base and pressed for about a minute (my line is uneven, not smooth). The phone didn't attach for more than a day, giving the base time to "sit down" and I accidentally pressed it to make sure it was really stuck. I placed both metal parts on/in my phone. One over the battery inside and one on the lid instead of just attaching/inserting 1 piece of metal. So far no problem. I've used this thing way more times than I can count, especially when I use the GPS on my phone and need to drive.
