I have several dehydrators in different sizes and designs, the largest of which is an expensive commercial device. This is the smallest I have. Shelves are not very deep and cannot hold much. It's fine for drying herbs and anything that can be cut and laid flat, but anything bulky will put pressure on the tray above. Tray liners are not very good. They curl up at the corners, don't lie flat, and don't reach the edge of the tray. They had to be the same shape and heavy enough to lay flat. You can't use the full size of the tray when drying something so small it has to sit on the insert. As an overflow/backup device for me when drying a lot of herbs or fruits, this is useful. As my captain he would not have been able to cope with many tasks. As with all tower models, you need to rotate the trays to dry everything evenly. The front panel controls are fairly basic and the timer you can set has a very wide range. Not much is asked of a device, there are much better options on the market with better trays, more trays and better use of space. The flat trays and thin liners really bother me about this device.
