Be sure to buy shoes according to the size chart. I have an 8 year old girl who wears size 3 Nike shoes (the Nike runs small). I gave her a 2 based on her foot measurements according to the TEVA sizing chart on their website. It was right. Her foot measures approximately 8 inches. It fits great with little room in the toe box (so there's room to grow, but you won't trip). She has a normal foot width - if her foot was wide I would buy her a 3. My 6 year old has them in size 13 - fits great too. She has wide legs and she loves them. It is from 13 to 1. For reference, the sizes of the children's shoes are in this order from smallest to largest. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Shoe sizes confuse my husband and he didn't know why my 8 year old is a size 2 and my 6 year old is a size 13!
