I tried a few wheels for our custom rail and this really worked the best. Our ham sometimes turns it into a bedroom, so I bought two more wheels and just added one to the cage. So now she has a bed with wheels and a treadmill. I keep the third wheel in reserve in case one of the wheels needs to be replaced, which happens quite often. After a while the wheel starts to squeak a bit as the hard plastic is rubbing against the harder plastic and I'm pretty sure heat is being generated. I just took some regular petroleum jelly and rubbed it on the connecting rod that goes into the wheelbase and the problem was completely solved! I figured using wd40 wouldn't be so good for ham so petroleum jelly was perfect.! Very quiet wheel! ENSURE that wherever you place the wheel on the cage, it is within inches of a safe spot for your ham to "land". Our ham managed to get the wheel off the pipe several times but we always found it alive and well as it fell quite a bit on the carpet. The hose connections loosen and after a while no longer provide a secure fit. In our case more than a year! Now that I've said all that, her new cage will be here this weekend! She has grown so healthy and "big" that she can no longer walk safely through the tubes of a familiar rail! :-/
