The material is not as thick as I had hoped. I'm sure it's great for hiking and more but I'm a hitchhiker so my pup is constantly on cement, in parks, in the wilderness all day long. Etc. Which is sure to cause these bags to go bad pretty quickly. Holds about 7 pounds of dog food, each pocket can still hold a small ball with a rope toy, uses a handle to hold rolled up puppies and a blanket cat. My pup is a year old, weighs almost 80 pounds and is made up of 45% Whippets, Sheepdogs, Beagles, APBs and Rotties. A huge mongrel mix, but a large, awkwardly shaped pup with a deep chest, sharp oval shoulder line, thin waist and medium hips. You may need to tie a few knots on the straps to make them fit. I wish the pockets were bigger than the photos but they aren't :/
