Edit 11/28/21 to add:The chemical smell dissipated after a few weeks. I’ve since bought 2 more and have used 1 of them under the rug in my living room. This one I had to cut but I knew that when I bought it. The rug is a handmade vintage kilim, so it’s an odd size. Once again the strong chemical smell was present for a few weeks but has since dissipated. If you are sensitive to smells, I would definitely let it air out before using it.I included a pic for reference this time. We no longer are slipping on the rug and it’s comfortable to walk on now.Original review:I don't typically wrote reviews as soon as I use something for the first time, but I had to this time. See, I just put this rug pad down under a thin wool kilim rug that I recently had shipped from Turkey. The rug is beautiful but EXTREMELY slippery and uncomfortable to walk on on our beautiful hardwood floors.After lots of research I finally bought this rug pad through Rug Pad USA, but on here so that I could easily return it if it didn't work.Let me just say that when I opened the box I smelled a strong chemical smell. It's not a horrible smell, but it's not a lovely smell either. Hopefully that will go away.The good part is that as I spread it out on the ground, I immediately noticed that it was gripping the floor so that I had to painstakingly pull the pad out bit by bit to make it lay flat on our bedroom floor (as opposed to bunched up in spots as it "stuck" to the floor). As I spread out the rug on top, I had to once again go back and forth carefully pulling the rug straight because the pad was gripping the rug securely. Once I had it all done and walked on it, I realized that the rug was now super comfy and safe to walk on.Amazing! Who knew such a seemingly thin pad would work such wonders. The pad was also the exact perfect size that I needed. What an excellent buy. Now if only the smell goes away in a few days.
