UPDATE 2: OK, I figured out how to get auto mode to work. To their credit, customer service *tried* to explain this to me, but the instructions were unclear. What you need to do is unplug your device and leave it for a while. Then plug it back in, but DO NOT press the power button. Use the app to select automatic mode, set your target humidity, set auto shutoff, then close the app and forget about it. I had to strategically move the hygrometer several times to get the desired indoor humidity. Now it turns on and off smoothly and saves me a lot of water. Conclusion: It could be more user-friendly, but overall I'm satisfied. UPDATE 1: I want to love this thing, but auto mode just turns the machine off. It won't turn back on, why is that? I'll keep it because it pumps out moisture, but if you're looking for a 'smart' device that can be set and forgotten, then this isn't it. work fine so far. Not the quietest humidifier, but pretty quiet - I actually have another one that's really quiet. But for the sake of simplicity I still give 5 stars. I just installed it today so I'll let you know if anything goes wrong.
