This is officially my first easel since my father, an engineer, made it for me when I was 5 to distract my interest in mural painting :) Research , this model won over the pastels and watercolors I had been looking forward to working on in a limited space, I might add. It's stable and has as many height, horizontal, and vertical position options as you can imagine. Arrived quickly as promised, nicely packaged, easy to fold and fold. The travel case is a great feature, almost anything can be added to the stabilizer - a brush (surface). For aspiring artists, it would be great if these basics were offered in one place. I love the horizontal options and how high the legs extend. I recommend the Heritage Watercolor Easel for any type of art, it doesn't crack when applying bold strokes of pastel. I almost forgot the feature that originally made it stand out from the crowd, it holds canvases up to 56" x 36", signs up to 69".
