Review on Moen Brantford Decorative Toilet Tank Lever in Oil Rubbed Bronze - YB2201ORB by David Hansen

looks nice. the rest is complete bullshit.

How can you ruin a metal bar that other toilets have been using for over 100 years? Give it to Moen and have them recreate it with a little plastic cog and an extra 90 degree bend and a lever that pivots with a plastic screw! Seriously, this thing has 3 moving parts and more angles than a math textbook. If the hand isn't quite right, it will hit the top of the tank and the breech will not fully lift. If the chain is not perfectly tensioned, the flap will not lift when flushed, or it will leak, causing the toilet to accidentally fill. Being plastic it won't rust, but copper, zinc or aluminum won't, and for the price of this thing you'd think it was made out of unobtanium. Seriously, it only works one way (most levers are reversible) and only adds about 3 levels of difficulty to the problem of flushing a toilet you don't want. All I wanted was my toilet lever to match my faucets in my sink and tub, not a geometry lesson. Oh, and the plastic gear I mentioned earlier. You can let it run for about a month, after which the cog will start to slip where you have to move it and try to tighten it again, but since it's plastic you basically have to replace it once it starts skipping. Oh, and you can't use Loctite because Loctite will melt the plastic.

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • The list will be long.
