As long as it is a genuine Kohler product, it is reliable. There are several companies online that offer much better prices, but be careful. I find all Kohler cartridges more difficult to install than Delta, Price Pfister, and American Standard cartridges. Be sure not to install the equalization block the wrong way round (it is marked "hot" and "cold" on genuine Kohler parts). Be careful not to drop the screws behind the wall (then you really screwed it up). I usually place a damp rag under the exposed body of the shower valve to catch a screw that might come loose. You can buy screwdrivers that grip the screw if you're a pro who does this regularly. Be sure to use silicone paste to lubricate the o-rings as well as the inside of the valve body. Be vigilant when dealing with this type of project. If you don't, you could get caught with the water in your house until you fix the mistake you made. Very embarrassing if you are a contractor!
