🚿 Kohler GP800881 Genuine Pressure Balance Cartridge Review

I bought this to replace an existing cartridge as we lost a lot of water pressure turning the faucet all the way on. Very easy to install, no leaks. Simple switch. In the long run I worry if this is a permanent solution every two years. I hope not.

I have a third cartridge - they all leak. The first replacement was a Kohler warranty replacement. The replacement ran out almost immediately and I bought another through Revain. It also leaks, but very slowly (a drop every hour or so). The cartridge is sealed and cannot be opened for cleaning or troubleshooting.

The product worked great and was perfect for replacing an existing cartridge that was not working properly. This brought the hot water back to normal temperature and pressure. Easy replacement of 4 screws. I'm a handyman with average experience. As long as you can turn off the water, this should be an easy replacement. This cartridge is a genuine Kohler replacement part and solved my little leak problem. There is no indication of this on the packaging. The main issue with this replacement cartridge is not this part, it is that the ORIGINAL cartridge started leaking in a new shower installation after less than two years! I can't bring myself to give this part a five star rating when I feel like I shouldn't have replaced the first part for years to come.

As long as it is a genuine Kohler product, it is reliable. There are several companies online that offer much better prices, but be careful. I find all Kohler cartridges more difficult to install than Delta, Price Pfister, and American Standard cartridges. Be sure not to install the equalization block the wrong way round (it is marked "hot" and "cold" on genuine Kohler parts).
