Review on EMAY Bluetooth Wrist Pulse Oximeter - Silicone SpO2 Sensor for Continuous Oxygen & Heart Rate Monitoring, Sleep Oxygen Monitor - Rechargeable with Free App & Overnight Report by Bob Collins

Easy to use, comfortable and well designed

This wrist monitor represents a significant improvement over the EMAY clip-on pulse oximeter which was already a good product. But a wrist-mounted monitor is much more comfortable and easier to carry, and much less likely to fall off your finger during nighttime shooting. Otherwise usage is almost identical to the earlier oximeter using the same iPhone or Android software. The software in particular is a strength of this device. It is well designed and easy to use, presenting the results in an easy to understand format. Details are available for those interested, and raw data is available for those who might want to do their own analysis in other applications. I have some experience in software development and I know that getting it right is harder than it looks. Another plus is the battery. The use of AAA batteries in the old EMAY oximeter made it bigger and heavier than it needed to be, and it drained those batteries pretty quickly. Some people might be concerned about the lack of a display on a wrist monitor, but that's not a problem. It's designed for nighttime and continuous recording, not spot measurements, and the iPhone and Android apps offer a better user interface than a device's tiny screen could. My only caveat is that the fingertip sensor can be a little tight if you have big hands. I have medium sized arms for a guy and it was comfortable enough but didn't want it to be tighter. But accurate readings will likely require a snug fit, and if you have large hands I'd recommend giving it a try anyway - it's a great device and it'll probably fit just as well as similar sensors. Recording pulse oximeters from other vendors as I was trying to treat a mild case of sleep apnea and this is the first consumer device I have found that has been completely satisfactory. It's not necessarily a replacement for a consultation with a doctor and a full sleep study, but it's a welcome addition. I highly recommend it.
