This external WiFi adapter will collide with the internal WiFi adapter when connected to a laptop. This conflict prevents an adapter from functioning. I had to go into device manager to disable the internal wifi adapter to get the external wifi adapter to work. I'm not sure if there's a way to install this external wireless adapter where it just overwrites the laptop's internal wireless adapter when plugged into a USB port, and then overwrites the laptop's internal wireless adapter again takes control when the external adapter is connected ? However, if there is, I couldn't figure out how. Since it's a family member's laptop, they don't want to go into Device Manager to reset the internal WiFi adapter when they're traveling with the laptop, and they don't want to take the external adapter with them. In any case, this goes in the direction of the adapter. seems to work, but not much better than the laptop's internal WiFi adapter.
