UPDATE 2: A replacement which I was expecting 100% unexpected arrived today WITH A HANDWRITTEN LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER apologizing for his (very minor) error. The new hydrometer read exactly 1000 with distilled water at 60 F. It couldn't be better. This product is no problem for the $35 it costs. Either it will be within tolerance or they will give you another one that will. UPDATE: The seller contacted me almost immediately and offered to send me a replacement as mine is slightly out of tolerance. Nice to see that they are so confident behind their product. If you haven't calibrated something like this, I have almost no doubt they will fix anything. Thanks again. ORIGINAL: Distilled water and tap water show 0.997 g/cc. Close and helpful when you know how far away yours is, but remember it's not perfect. Not bad for the cost
