I've used metal body Toslink cables and they tend to wriggle in the port because they don't have a good port grip. A good solid connection to the Toslink port is the most important aspect to get a good optical signal through the Toslink port. You want as much light as possible to hit the port at right angles. Plastic cases are actually better than metal cases for this, as plastic has a better grip on the input connector than slippery metal. In addition to grip, you need a well-protected but not too stiff cable jacket and a set of fibers inside the cable with a fairly thick bundle. BlueRigger ticks all the boxes for a superior Toslink audio cable. Spend less money and get a better and stronger signal. Don't fall for the bait of snake oil sellers. What do you not like here? Good Toslink cable. I have several of these that are totally incompatible and they connect all of my high quality digital audio gear.
