I only started painting with ink last year. I fell in love with this product from the start. This stick was a beautiful shade of black, more than any other brand I bought a few months ago. I let the ink rest in the closed ink stone. The ink seems to get richer if you let it dry for a few weeks. I apply diluted grays and then apply the final shadows using the darkest batch of ink. I was also addicted to the smell of these ink pens. They evoke a sense of calm. I find that this "aromatherapy" helps me focus on work more than other remedies. I added some white charcoal for highlights and texture. Buy this large inkstick stick with a lid and you won't be disappointed!
