I am a professional decorator. First, these blades are not designed for outdoor use. This can be seen from the description of the blades. I bought them for a homemade fan I've had for 20 years. The fan is still running great, but has started to wobble. The fan came with raw oak blades which I varnished and varnished to match my sculpture in my living room. When I removed the fan to paint the ceiling, I noticed that one of the blades was warped. That wouldn't be unusual for a 20-year-old fan. It is important that all fan blades are flat and have the same surface finish on both sides. Any change in weight or size may affect fan operation. As soon as I received these blades I noticed that they have a clear finish. I have tested them with different solvents and found that the finish becomes tacky with lacquer thinner. A sure sign of blade finish. I sanded the blades lightly with 220 grit sandpaper and wiped them down with thinner. I colored them and need to use a shader to match the old ones. This can be risky if I'm not getting the same amount of finish on each blade. Despite all the work I have to do to fix these blades, they still swing. I wouldn't have bought them if I knew they had clear coat on them. The description said "finished-unfinished". I should have paid more attention to the description.
