UPDATE: The company contacted me and offered to send (for free) an upgraded fan that would fix what led me to return the first fan. I agreed, impressed that they were so responsive to improvements. It arrived as well packaged as always. Assembling it was just as easy. But this time the fan had a controller and a remote control. You no longer have to rely on a smartphone app. The remote control isn't as intuitive as it could be, and the instruction manual is in dire need of a rewrite by someone fluent in English. However, this fan is on our deck blowing his little heart out. Nice that it has been improved. I strongly recommend this version. The fan arrived in great condition, looked good and was easy to assemble. From that point on, getting the tech to work has been a never-ending nightmare (and without a remote, it's impossible to control the fan without an app running on a smartphone). A dozen attempts at various strategies (including calls to tech support) kept failing. Mind you we have the latest phones and the latest know-how to use them and it still failed. It's good that it was so easy to put together because it was so easy to disassemble, pack up and return. A smart isn't smart if it doesn't work.
