Review on HotLogic Mini Personal Portable Black by Tim Olson

Very happy with it. Here's what I found.

Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. I chose this brand based on extensive online reviews everywhere and the 'feeling' that it might be a better choice than cheaper brands and might not light a fire when it's out of sight. It basically does what it says, so I won't waste time going into everything that's already been covered elsewhere. Here's what I found that new buyers MIGHT find helpful. Obvious question. How do I know how long to reheat a frozen meal when I'm just starting out? Answer: Look at the instructions for the microwave oven! Let's say the average microwave power is 1100W and then multiply the time by 27. Why 27? Because 1100/40 W is 27.5. This means that a 40W heating element takes 27 times longer to use the same amount of energy as a microwave oven. So if your dish says you need to microwave it for 3 minutes. Try around 80 minutes (or less to be sure). Is this foolproof? Absolutely not, it's called Rule of Thumb and you can change it from there as you gain experience. No two foods heat up the same way, but at least the frozen snack folks have given us an indication of how much energy they think we need to pour into their creation to bring it back to life. Does this work for refrigerated leftovers you ask? Of course, except that YOU need to find the microwave time and power setting that YOU typically use to reheat leftovers. 3 minutes at 50% power? 50% effort = (1100/2) = 550550/40 = 13.75 x 3 minutes on normal warm up = 41.25 minutes on Mini. There are several ways to do the math. Imagine throwing watts into the bowl for a set amount of time and then wondering how many minutes it takes when instead of 1100 you're only throwing 40 watts per minute into the bowl. I hope this isn't too confusing and that someone finds it helpful.
