Review on Dell ST2321L 23 Inch Wide Screen Monitor with 1920X1080P Resolution by Antoine Newton

Well working monitor in my review

I bought this monitor as part of a Black Friday sale not knowing where I would be using it. When it arrived it was too big for my home office, so I took it to work and set it up as a third monitor. Sitting between two Dell UltraSharp monitors didn't look good at first. The picture wasn't as bright, the colors weren't as saturated and of course the resolution wasn't as high. But that's not an entirely accurate comparison - Dell UltraSharp monitors are high-end monitors, and that's certainly not the case. So I planted it next to an old Dell E-series I had instead and the comparison here was a lot more favourable. Here this monitor looked quite bright, with good saturation. Even brighter than the E series. Color temperature out of the box was very warm, which is good for viewing documents under fluorescent lighting. If you don't like that, you will find all the usual settings for brightness, contrast, color temperature and individual RGB levels to adjust the temperature. It's the same size as a non-widescreen 19-inch monitor, and wide enough you'll want to put it back on your desk so you can see it all. No cable routing, not even a hole in the mounting bracket. Just tilt back and forth; no height or swivel adjustment. But to get a good 23" monitor like mine for the price I paid I'm not unhappy. Other than cable management. Good Dell. It's back on my desk sandwiched between two UltraSharps and I'm using it as a my primary monitor I really like it.

Pros
  • This is a very good monitor. But it's not VESA compliant if you want to put it in a mount.
Cons
  • Limited screen size options
