Lovely gate after customer service sent correct extensions

This is a great gate (Muchkin Easy Close XL with extensions) but I have just spent 2 hours fitting an extension. The height difference between the extension and the gate is approximately 1/2 inch. I tried tapping the underside of the gate with a hammer to level it enough to attach the plastic extension adapter and even shaved off the plastic to make it work. I used a small hammer and cloth to avoid scratching the metal/paint Eventually the surface of the bottom of the plug (which the adjustment rod screws into) cracked and I stopped driving basically a "square" pin in it round hole" and called customer service. I spoke to a really helpful customer service rep who said it sounds like I have extensions for another model and she will send new ones with adapters. It takes a few days to process and up to 10 days to ship, but probably less since we're both based in California. I appreciate great customer service and support but I have a new puppy and really need a goal now. I will update the information as new expansions come in. Update: Extent Zion replacement arrived in less than a week. The large single 11" extension needs to be placed on the opposite side of the gate handle to allow for alignment. Save yourself the hassle, read the extension placement instructions carefully to ensure a proper fit. The doors open and close easily and are durable. and keeps dogs from running around the house. I'm happy with that strong goal now that all the overtimes are in order. I would buy this gate again. Update after 4 months of continuous use: This is a really solid gate installed in the wide hallway between the common room/kitchen to keep the dogs (6 month old Labradoodle / 13 year old Shi-Poo) isolated. It is not screwed to the wall, it is held in place by pressure on the wall and skirting board. It didn't move, didn't slip, and didn't need to be adjusted. A 40kg puppy will jump onto the top bar with its paws, but it stays in place and is high enough that it cannot climb over it. Latch from below, he can push it, the only downside is that the latch gets stuck so sometimes you have to pull down manually to make it fully open/close. I would still buy this gate again.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • boring packaging
