Review on MICTUNING Backlit LIGHTS Symbol Surface Replacement Parts by Dexter Pullen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The switch is excellent, the plug is junk

As the title says, the switch works perfectly. The supplied connectors appear to have a plastic molding defect that allows the dash backlight's ground and power contacts to touch, completing the circuit and blowing the fuse. I found a solution. So if you have basic DIY skills (which you probably have by the time you hook up your fog lights) you might as well have a solid connection. There are 5 pins in the connector, only 4 of which are used The dashboard light circuit consists of the red 2 and black wires in the illustration in the product description. I moved the red wire 2 from its socket to the empty one in the middle (see pic 2). The corresponding pin in the switch isn't connected to anything, so just solder that pin to the one it was connected to (see Figure 3). You may need to take it a step further: in one of these I bought the ground pin in the plug could move all the way around and was still touching the 2 red pin so I cut a piece off the old gift card and put it in the glued old red 2-point, save the ground pin in place and make sure the pin on the side of the switch can slide past the card piece. A few things I added to help prevent "light leakage" (the icon is dimly lit because the "fog lights" sign is lit), I got rings from some of the spade connectors on the LEDs ( secured with super glue) set the light to the back of the button (see pic 4) and I cut another piece from this old gift card to use as a divider on the back of the button and glued it in place (see Pictures 5 and 6).
