This belt is just over 1 1/4 inches wide. The ends are sewn with something like leather, but probably faux leather. However, it is well stitched so it should hold up well as the "leather" parts are not in stressed areas. The buckle tongue fits anywhere on the belt, so you don't have to deal with the "between the holes" problem. There is enough stretch to make the belt feel comfortable when you exercise or when you eat more heavily than intended. The belt fits the size ordered, although I accidentally ordered a size about twice the size I can carry. My fault, not the seller. The belt I received is exactly the length advertised. My belt is black and the color is very consistent throughout the belt. The buckle does not react to magnets. So I'm not sure what material the buckle is made of as it's not metal, you can carry the strap through security scanners and not remove the strap and put it in a shopping cart. .
