We used to have a quesadilla machine but every time we used it our contents spilled overboard and made a mess. It's not like we have a lot of stuff in the tortilla. The extra topping bar allows us to have a decent amount of "topping" for our quesadillas! We spray our nonstick spray before cooking. I would recommend placing a towel under the kettle or newspaper to catch any excess spray. It is also very easy to wash and clean. If something sticks to it (mostly cheese), we take a damp paper towel, put it in the machine and turn it on for a few minutes. Cheese (or anything else) wipes off instantly!
